Start a project

Process / four steps / no discovery theatre

How a project actually runs.

Four steps from first message to a finished project. Below, each one states what happens, what we need from you, and how long it usually takes. Most clients hire us without meeting in person.

step 01day 1–2

Scope & price

One call, a WhatsApp thread, or email — whichever suits you. We ask what the project has to do, who it is for, and what is not working today, then write it down.

You end this step with scope, a price range and a start date in writing. Nothing begins until you agree to all three.

What happens

  • A short conversation about the goal, not a sales presentation
  • We review your current site or tools, if you have them
  • Written scope, price range and start date sent to you

What we need from you

  • A rough idea of the outcome you want
  • Links to your current site, if one exists
  • Whoever makes the final decision, in the thread

step 02week 1

Structure

Data model and sitemap mapped out first, before any screen gets designed. We agree which pages exist, what each one is for, and what a visitor is meant to do on it.

Final content is filled into the approved design later, in step 3 — so you are never blocked waiting to write everything up front.

What happens

  • Sitemap and page purposes agreed with you
  • Data model and user roles defined for anything with logins
  • Integrations confirmed as possible before we rely on them

What we need from you

  • Your service list and how you actually price it
  • Any existing brand assets: logo, colours, fonts
  • One round of feedback on the structure, within a few days

step 03week 2–4

Build in the open

Design and development run together, with regular updates as it is built — screenshots and check-ins, not a surprise reveal at the end.

Content is placed into the approved layouts here. You supply the real text and images, or approve what we draft from your material.

What happens

  • Pages designed and built to the agreed structure
  • Content placed into the approved layouts
  • Tested on phones, tablets and desktop before it is shown as done

What we need from you

  • Text, photos and any documents for the pages
  • Access to the domain, hosting and any tools we integrate
  • Feedback gathered into one list per round, not message by message

step 04launch

Handover

A finished project, ready to use — basic training and support if you need them. It goes live on your domain, under your accounts.

Support is optional and monthly. Nothing about the handover depends on you buying it.

What happens

  • Launch on your domain, with your accounts and access
  • Basic training on editing your own content
  • A short window for fixes on anything we got wrong

What we need from you

  • Final approval on the pages before launch
  • Someone on your side to receive the training
  • A decision on whether you want ongoing support

FAQ

Questions about working with us

What do you need from us to start?
A rough idea of the outcome, your service list and how you price it, and any brand assets you already have. Domain and hosting access are needed later, in step 3, not on day one.
Do we need the content ready before you start?
No. Structure is agreed first, and content is filled into the approved design in step 3. Send what you have and we tell you what is still missing.
What if the scope grows mid-project?
We price the addition separately and you decide: add it now, or park it for a later phase. The agreed work keeps its original price and date either way — nothing is quietly re-invoiced.
Do you sign an NDA?
Yes. Send yours and we sign it, or we use a simple mutual one. We also do not publish a project as a case study without your written permission.
What if we need changes after handover?
Anything we built wrong is fixed at no cost within the post-launch window. New pages or features are quoted, or covered by the hours in a support plan if you have one.
Do we have to meet in person or take calls?
No. Most clients run the whole project over WhatsApp and email, in writing. A call is available whenever you want one, never required.
